Wedding & Ceremony FAQs — Clear Answers for Couples in Scotland

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the questions couples ask us most often — answered simply and clearly.

Do you conduct legal weddings?

Yes — all our celebrants are authorised to conduct legal marriages anywhere in Scotland.

How much does a wedding ceremony cost?

Our fee is £650, of which a £150 non‑refundable deposit is required to secure your date. There are no hidden extras and our date is fully secured once the deposit is paid.

What’s included in the fee?

A fully personalised ceremony with support, guidance on vows and readings, delivery of your ceremony, and completion of the marriage schedule. Travel within Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, and Moray is included.

Do you travel outside the North‑East?

Yes — we’re happy to travel anywhere in Scotland for your ceremony.

How do we book a celebrant?

Send us an enquiry with your date and location. We’ll match you with a celebrant and confirm availability.

Do we need to meet our celebrant before booking?

Don't worry, we appreciate everyone is busy and so we offer an initial chat via phone or video so you can get a feel for your celebrant and ask any questions.

What happens if our celebrant falls ill or becomes unavailable?

Happily, at Ceremonies.Scot, we are a team and so, should the worst happen, we will do our best to send another Celebrant without delay.

How long is a wedding ceremony?

Most ceremonies last around 30 to 40 minutes, depending on readings, symbolic gestures, and personal elements.

Can we write our own vows?

Yes — and we can help you shape them if you’d like.

Do you offer symbolic gestures?

Yes — handfasting, quaich ceremonies, candle lighting, and more. We will be happy to guide you through the options.

Do you offer Welcoming Ceremonies?

Yes — a Welcoming Ceremony is £250 and can be created for babies, children, or any new addition to the family.

Do you conduct Celebration of Life ceremonies?

Yes — a Celebration of Life ceremony is £210, created with care, compassion, and respect.

What information becomes public when we submit our M10 forms?

When you submit your M10s, the Registrar must display a short notice for 28 days. It only includes basic details — your names, occupations, nationalities, marital status, ceremony date and place, and your celebrant’s name. None of your private information (like your address, contact details, or documents) is made public. It’s simply a legal formality before your Marriage Schedule is issued.

What if we don’t see our question here?

Just get in touch — we’re always happy to help.
