CEREMONY STRUCTURE

A simple guide to how your ceremony will flow

Your ceremony follows a clear, calm structure that keeps everything feeling natural, personal, and easy to follow. You don’t need to memorise anything — this page simply gives you an overview so you know what to expect when completing your form.

The Shape of a Ceremony

Every ceremony is unique, but most follow a gentle, familiar flow:

1. Welcome & Setting the Scene

A warm opening that brings everyone together and marks the start of your ceremony.

2. Readings

If you’ve chosen a reading , it usually sits here. Everything is placed where it feels most natural.

3. Your Story

A short, personal telling of your journey — shaped from the details you share with us.

4. Your Vows

Whether you choose one of ours or write your own, this is the moment you speak your promises to each other.

5. Exchange of Rings

A simple, meaningful moment with heartfelt words.

6. Signing

The signing of the marriage schedule.

7. Closing Words

A final moment of warmth before you walk back up the aisle together.

Where Your Choices Fit In

Your Ceremony Planning Guide and JotForm walk you through each part of the ceremony in the same order you see here. This means you can make decisions one step at a time, without needing to understand the whole structure at once.

  • Your choices shape:
  • whether you include a reading
  • whether you include a symbolic gesture
  • which vows you choose
  • who is involved in each moment

Everything else is handled quietly behind the scenes

A Note on Readings & Gestures

If you choose a reading or gesture, we’ll place it where it flows best within your ceremony. You don’t need to decide the exact timing — just choose what feels meaningful.

A Note on Vows

You can:

  • choose one of the vows from your Guide
  • write your own
  • or write something longer, which we shape into a Personal Declaration

Your vow moment will always feel calm, clear, and easy to speak.

A Little Reassurance

You’re not expected to know any of this in detail — that’s the whole point of the Guide and the form. This page is simply here to give you a sense of the journey your ceremony takes, step by step.

Your ceremony will be warm, personal, and beautifully paced, no matter which options you choose.
